กระบวนการภูคราม
ขั้นตอนการทำงานผ้าของภูครามเป็นกระบวนการตามวิถีดั้งเดิมของชาติพันธุ์บนเทือกเขาภูพาน
วิถีของชาวบ้านบนภูพานมีทั้งการปลูกฝ้าย ย้อมคราม และปลูกหม่อนเลี้ยงไหม
ปัจจุบันภูครามเลือกใช้กระบวนการทำผ้าฝ้ายทอมือย้อมสีธรรมชาติมาต่อยอดงาน เราเริ่มตั้งแต่กระบวนการปลูกฝ้ายตามหัวไร่ปลายนา ปลูกคราม และนำส่วนต่างๆ ของพืชพรรณหรือวัตถุดิบจากธรรมชาติมาย้อม โดยภูครามจะใช้วิถีหรือเทคนิคดั้งเดิมของบรรพบุรุษแทบไม่เปลี่ยนแปลง นอกจากการปรับปรุงเรื่องคุณภาพและความพิถีพิถันให้มากขึ้น
เพื่อสืบสานความจริงดั้งเดิมเราใช้การปักผ้าเป็นเครื่องมือใหม่ในท้องถิ่น สร้างลวดลายเพื่อบอกเล่าเรื่องราวทรัพยากรที่เราเห็นคุณค่าผ่านผืนผ้า ทุกกระบวนการของชิ้นงานคือการอนุรักษ์วิถีชีวิตดั้งเดิมและธรรมชาติบนเทือกเขาภูพานอย่างแท้จริง

- เข็นฝ้าย (ปั่นเป็นเส้นฝ้าย)
- ย้อมเส้นฝ้าย
- กวักฝ้าย (นำด้ายที่ย้อมสีแล้วมากวัก เพื่อให้เส้นด้ายตึงเรียบเสมอกัน)
- ค้นหูก/ค้นฝ้าย (เตรียมเส้นยืน)

The Journey of Bhukram Products
The process of Bhukram products follows the traditional process of the tribe living in the Phuphan mountain range.
The way of life of people in Phuphan includes cotton cultivation, indigo dyeing, and silk farming (sericulture).
Bhukram has chosen hand-woven cotton fabric dyed with natural colors to further develop traditional process. We begin with growing cotton around rice fields or villagers’ farm, cultivating indigo, and using various parts of plants or natural materials for dyeing. We intent to use the traditional methods of our ancestors with little change, for improving quality and meticulous craftsmanship.
To preserve traditional knowledge, we use hand-embroidery as a new local tool, creating patterns to tell stories about the resources we value through fabric. Every step of the process is a true preservation of the traditional way of life and nature in the Phuphan mountain range.

การสร้างสรรค์ผลงานชิ้นพิเศษของภูคราม
คือกระบวนการที่เริ่มต้นจากการเฝ้าสังเกตวงจรชีวิตของธรรมชาติบนภูพาน ซึ่งไม่ใช่เพียงการมองเห็น แต่คือการทำความเข้าใจความเปลี่ยนแปลงของฤดูกาลในแต่ละช่วงปี จนกระทั่งพบความงามที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของช่วงเวลานั้นๆ
เมื่อธรรมชาติถูกนำมาจับประเด็น กระบวนการถัดมาคือการนำพาเหล่าช่างฝีมือ ทั้งช่างย้อมและช่างปัก ออกเดินทางไปสัมผัสกับต้นทางของแรงบันดาลใจด้วยตนเอง เพื่อให้พวกเขาได้ซึมซับบรรยากาศ กลิ่นอาย และรายละเอียดที่เกิดขึ้นจริงในป่าภูพาน

การพาช่างเข้าหาธรรมชาติคือเปิดการรับรู้ ประสาทสัมผัสต่อธรรมชาติรอบตัว งานแต่ละชิ้นจึงไม่ใช่การก๊อปปี้ลวดลาย แต่คือการแปลงมุมมองและความรู้สึกจากป่ามาไว้บนผืนผ้า

ช่างแต่ละคนมีประสบการณ์และมุมมองที่เฉพาะตัว แม้จะยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าธรรมชาติชุดเดียวกัน แต่รายละเอียดที่แต่ละคนเลือกหยิบยกมานำเสนอนั้นต่างกัน บางคนอาจชอบในเงาใบไม้ ขณะที่บางคนอาจให้ความสำคัญกับความอ่อนช้อยของกิ่งก้าน

A process that begins with observing the life cycle of nature on Phuphan mountain range, which is not just about seeing with eyes, but about understanding the changes in the seasons throughout the year, until discovering the unique beauty of that particular time period.
When nature was chosen as the theme, the next step was to take the artisans—both dyers and embroiderers—on a journey to experience the source of their inspiration firsthand. This allowed them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere, scents, and details that truly exist in the Phuphan forest.

Bringing artisans to immerse in nature opens their awareness and senses to the natural world around them. Each piece, therefore, is not a copy of a pattern, but a transformation of perspectives and feelings from the forest onto the fabric.
The beauty of the difference
Each artisan has their own unique experience and perspective. Even when standing in front of the same natural landscape, the details they choose to highlight differ. Some may appreciate the shadows of leaves, while others may focus on the graceful curves of branches.
The masterpieces serve as a space to bring together diverse perspectives. The differences among people have become a matter power that helps reflect various aspects of the complexity and grandeur of nature.
In Bhukram culture, Nature is the one who give us some messages and we, as human-beings, communicate those messages via craftsmanship, so the results are not only garments, but also “a conversation between the forest and artisans” that is recorded mindfully.
